Do These 5 Things Now
1. CHOOSE A RESOURCE. The Marriage 911: First Response Workbook and the Separated and Waiting book are recommended if your marriage is in crisis. Riding the Waves Workbook is recommended if you and your spouse have come through a crisis and are willing to work on the marriage together. Yes, Your Marriage Can Be Saved is a chapter book that can be used in a small group, with your spouse, or read alone. The weekly videos are recommended with whatever resource you choose.
2.PUT A 12-WEEK PLAN TOGETHER. While it will likely take longer than 12 weeks for your marriage crisis to be over, putting a plan together now will help you begin the process. Whatever happens in your marriage, you must do whatever it takes to be on a path to wholeness and health. For the next 12 weeks, commit to reading a chapter of Proverbs daily, getting rest, drinking lots of water, and eating as healthy as possible. If you are able, do some form of exercise at least 3 times a week.
4. PRAY FOR WISDOM. Ask God to show you 1-3 people (same gender) that you can ask to pray for you to have wisdom and courage to face the challenges in your life and marriage. If your spouse has filed for a legal separation or divorce, you might also need legal counsel in your response.
5. GET A SUPPORT PARTNER. Ask a person to meet weekly for an hour as you go through one of our workbooks. (The Support Partner Handbook will guide him or her in this process.) It is also very important to avoid becoming emotionally or sexually involved with someone during this vulnerable time and a support partner can help you be accountable.
