Why We Started This Ministry

Out of our own crisis came a calling to help others. In 1999, we founded the International Center for Reconciling God's Way, Inc. (ICRGW) — a non-profit, faith-based organization dedicated to helping couples in crisis, especially those navigating separation or who had an unwilling spouse.

In 1991, we wrote Reconciling God's Way workbook and Support Partner book, and began speaking at marriage conferences across the U.S. In 2007, we wrote Yes, Your Marriage Can Be Saved, (published by Focus on the Family/Tyndale House). That book led to a partnership with the National Institute of Marriage and licensed counselors, through which the first workbook and support partner book were revised to Marriage 911: First Response 12-week workbook and the Support Partner Handbook — practical, proven tools for anyone walking through a marriage crisis alone.

What Makes Us Different

Most churches offer premarital classes. Many offer support after divorce. But very few offer real help to couples in crisis — and almost none address the specific pain of the abandoned spouse.

Our approach is intentionally different from traditional couples counseling:

  • We don't provide couple's counseling. Our resources are designed to be used individually, not as a pair.
  • We work one-on-one. Each person goes through the material with a same-gender support partner.
  • We believe no marriage is too far gone. Even if your spouse has already left, there is still hope.
  • We provide biblical survival tools if a marriage ends in divorce.

This isn't a program that requires your spouse to show up. It's a lifeline for you — right where you are.
